Telangana scraps 15% non-reserved seats in 36 med colleges; to continue in 20 others

Previously, only 85% of the seats were set aside for students from telangana, leaving 15% open to applicants from the adjoining state of Andhra Pradesh. The telangana government has issued directives eliminating the 15% unreserved quota for admissions in all of the state's medical institutions that were founded after june 2, 2014, leaving only state-domiciled students eligible for the 100% remaining seats.
The state government amended the telangana state medical colleges admission regulations in accordance with the government order issued by Secretary (Medical and Health) sam Rizvi to this effect. The ruling said that the changes were made in conformity with Article 371D of the Constitution and the ap Reorganisation Act. According to the modified guidelines, telangana students must occupy every seat in the competitive authority quota for medical institutions created after june 2, 2014.
Previously, 15% of the seats were open to students from adjoining andhra pradesh while the rest 85% were reserved for students from Telangana. telangana students will now have a better chance of obtaining MBBS [Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery] seats thanks to this most recent decision, according to state minister of medicine and health T Harish Rao.
