A Muslim man was allegedly brutally beaten and displayed by a group of people from right-wing organisations on monday night after he reportedly defecated next to a statue of chatrapathi Shivaji, which sparked tension in the siddipet district's Gajwel town. Locals apprehended the man, a resident in the area, when he was urinating close to the statue. He allegedly received a heavy beating from the mob, who then paraded him and gave him to the police.
Members of the local BJP, VHP, and Bajrang Dal organisations held a dharna and rasta roko to call for the guy to be investigated thoroughly. They described it as a calculated action meant to offend Hindu sensibilities.  In the midst of the protest, there were skirmishes between the two communities, which left a few people hurt. The police stepped up patrolling and security following the incident. In the meanwhile, certain areas of Gajwel have closed their shops and businesses.

The Hindu organisations in Gajwel Town called for a bandh on Tuesday. Swetha, the commissioner of police in siddipet, stated in a statement about the incident on tuesday that the guy who peed on the statue of Chhatrapati shivaji was detained. To find him, various teams were established and searches were conducted in various locations.
