While there have been many problems between china and taiwan for a long time, now US parliament Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to the country in support of taiwan has angered China. It has caused a stir between the two countries, with Chinese President Xi jinping condemning it following Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan.
Following this, the Chinese government led by Xi jinping started imposing a trade ban on Taiwan. In this, China's Ministry of Commerce has ordered to ban the export of sand to taiwan as the first step. Similarly, on tuesday, china suddenly stopped buying products from Taiwanese food companies without any prior notice. As a result, tea, dry fruits, honey, cocoa beans, vegetables, and 700 containers of fish exported from taiwan to china have been banned.
China has also imposed a temporary import ban on around 35 Taiwanese companies. china is currently blocking taiwan just as it blocked Russia, which launched a war on Ukraine. US house Speaker Nancy Pelosi arrived in taiwan on tuesday despite opposition from the Chinese government and condemnation from President Xi Jinping.
The Chinese government accuses Pelosi's visit of gravely violating the One china Policy and the provisions of the three China-US Joint Statements.
After Pelosi landed in the Taiwanese capital of Taipei on tuesday, she reaffirmed America's commitment to supporting Taiwan's democracy. Nancy Pelosi also said the trip was in no way inconsistent with long-standing US policy toward the island nation of Taiwan. taiwan broke away from china following a civil war in 1949.
This means that even though taiwan is acting independently, china continues to claim it as its own country. For this, while taiwan claims that they are an independent country, America is supporting Taiwan.
