Following this, the court heard the petition and imposed an interim stay on the Musicians Association elections. So the election that was supposed to be held last year was postponed for the last five months...it took place yesterday.
In this, in violation of the rules of music artists' associations, Deena, who has already held the post of president twice, announced that he is going to run for re-election. This infuriated those in the music Artists Association. ilayaraja, in particular, created a stir by releasing a video warning Deena in a threatening tone. Following this, Sabesan, who is also a music composer and the younger brother of Denisai Thendral Deva, won the post of president in the election that was held yesterday. murali as Secretary, chandra shekhar as Treasurer, Murthy as Vice President, and Padmasree Balesh as Joint Secretary were also elected. Balasubramanian was the Returning Officer for this election.
He contested for the post of chairman against Sabesan and got only 248 votes. But Sabesan got 318 votes and won by 70 votes. It is said that the main reason for Deena's defeat was when Deena broke the rules and ilayaraja raged against him.
