Whiskey has an expiration date..!? If you drink beyond it?
As soon as it is 9.30 pm in tamil Nadu, the liquor lovers get excited. The Tasmac shop will be closed before 10 o'clock...they will start worrying whether it will be available or whether it will be sold in the block after 10 o'clock will arrive properly. But in reality, the whiskey you buy and drink may be out of date.
Like all food and medicine, alcohol has an expiration date. If you open a bottle of whiskey and drink half of it, you can keep the rest safely in your cupboard. But be aware that the whiskey in it will expire soon folks! Leftover whiskey undergoes oxidation and becomes stale. The more whiskey in the bottle the more time it will take to expire as less oxygen will enter it. A small quantity will soon expire. There is a possibility that people who consume such expired goods will also become expired. Drinking alcohol can be a sedative for some people. Such people and others should check beforehand whether the whiskey they are drinking is expired or not!
If there is more than half of the whiskey in the bottle it may take a year or two before it expires. If it is only a quarter, it will expire within six months. Once the bottle is opened, the ethanol in the wine evaporates and changes its taste. Aerated Scotch whiskeys also tend to expire over some time. There is a way to prevent whiskey from going stale. It can be used for a long time if it is filled completely from big bottles to small bottles. At the same time unbroken whiskey bottles never go bad. So buy unsealed whiskey bottles and use them. Like wine, whiskey does not improve in flavor and quality with age. The taste and quality of whiskey comes from the process of distilling and aging it in barrels. So buy expensive whiskey pour it into small bottles and keep it tightly closed. You can enjoy it whenever you want.
