A huge 300-year-old tree is present in Dussehri village located on Hardoi Road in Kakori block of Uttar Pradesh. Spread over an area of 1600 feet, this huge mango tree is said to be the mother plant of Dussehri mango. The mangoes of this tree kept in the protected category are considered to be different in terms of taste.

The mangoes that grow on this mother plant are of small data-size. It is called the pure tree of Dussehri mango. sameer Zaidi is responsible for the maintenance of this tree. He tells about this tree that it has been protected due to being the mother plant. The tree is completely dense and surrounded. Surrounding it with barbed wire, there is also a board of 'Protected Tree'.

The people of Dussehri village have to say about this tree that how old this tree is and since when it is present in the village, even their father or baba is not aware of it. The people here tell that since he was born, he has been looking at this tree in the same way. Even though this tree is years old, but even today when the mango season comes, only four-five fruits are produced on it.

Villagers saved this heritage


According to former head husband Manoj Yadava, once when the garbage plant was about to be constructed, there was talk of removing this tree, but the people of the village did not allow this to happen and saved it on the strength of their struggle. After this it was preserved by asking the public representatives. This tree has also got heritage status.

On July 3 i.e. on Sunday, the district Magistrate of Lucknow, Suryapal Gangwar reached Dussehri village and duly worshiped this 300-year-old tree and gave the message of environmental protection. He told that this three-century-old tree is the parent of the Dussehri mango variety. From this, the origin of Dussehri mango is believed to be.
