Prime minister Narendra Modi is on a three-day visit to gujarat from today. During this, PM Modi will also dedicate the Miyawaki forest to the country from the Statue of Unity. This is the world's largest coastal forest that has been built in Nargol of Umargam tehsil of Valsad district of Gujarat.
What are Miyawaki Forests?Miyawaki Forest was discovered 40 years ago by akira Miyawaki of Japan. They are called Miyawaki Jungle after his name. akira Miyawaki got the idea of the need to create such a forest when he reached the Earth Summit held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. According to Miyawaki, the Earth Summit had failed to establish the importance of preserving natural forests. Miyawaki believed that it is very important to save natural forests and prepare such forests according to the environment, only then we will be able to data-face problems like climate change. After this, he started working on his idea.
What is Miyawaki Technique?There was an experience behind the Miyawaki technique. They found that japan has only .06 per cent of the trees that can be called natural, apart from that there are such trees in the separately grown forest that are not adapted to the soil and environment there. The Miyawaki technique was built on this basis.Plants are planted at a very short distance in the forest made by this method. Due to this, the plants keep growing upwards after getting sunlight.Under this, three species of plants are planted, whose height is different when the tree is formed. In this, one tree of high height, the second of low height and the third dense shady plant is selected.It must be kept in mind that the plants that are being planted in the ground should be suited to the climate there. Choose plants that are native to your area.The lesser the space, the more trees will grow and the faster they will grow. A total of 60 types of trees are being planted along with various medicinal plants in the Miyawaki forest of Gujarat.
