A ten-year-old girl is affected by Chinese pneumonia..?!
A 10-year-old girl has been diagnosed with a rare disease, 'Chinese Pneumonia' - Mycoplasma pneumonia - at the Institute of Child health in kolkata, West Bengal. Achirumi, a resident of Banstroni in South kolkata, was admitted to Park Circus Hospital on december 25 with mild respiratory problems, fever, and cough. Doctors who examined the girl diagnosed Mycoplasma pneumonia as the cause of her illness. In november last year, an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae was widespread across the country, hence the name 'Chinese Pneumonia'. Seven people have been diagnosed with this disease in AIIMS delhi alone. Most of them are children. The affected girl is reported to be cooperating well with treatment at a kolkata hospital. Apart from China, this pneumonia outbreak has caused respiratory infections in other countries, including the United States. pneumonia has resulted in some deaths. Elderly people with lung problems are easily affected by this.
Mycoplasma pneumonia are bacteria that primarily infect the respiratory tract. But it has also been reported to affect other organs like the heart, kidneys, and eyes. The good thing about this is that there is no need to panic as this infection can be cured with antibiotics, doctors say. “The girl is recovering well with the medication.” As ICH Head of Paediatrics professor Jaideb Ray said. Mihir Sarkar, professor of pediatrics at the Medical college and Hospital, said, “Mycoplasma pneumonia is a variant of pneumonia. It currently accounts for 5-10 percent of all pneumonia cases in developed countries.” “It mostly affects children above the age of five. In developing countries like India, we often do not control these bacteria due to resource constraints. Like other respiratory pathogens, it is spread by droplets. Therefore, hygiene measures such as wearing a mask and washing hands can prevent transmission.” Mihir Sarkar also said.
In the case of a 10-year-old girl who was infected in kolkata, doctors found signs of pneumonia in her eyes and lungs through a chest X-ray. Further laboratory tests confirmed Mycoplasma pneumonia. “Parents should be vigilant as this infection can be spread through coughs and sneezes. If symptoms such as respiratory infection appear, one should immediately consult a doctor without delay.” A senior health official said.
