A list of 75 people who came in direct contact with them has been prepared by the health department and they have been isolated and are under close observation of the health department. Also included in this list are the doctors and nurses who treated the patients.

According to the World health Organization, the mortality rate of Nipah patients ranges from 40 percent to 75 percent.

Around 17 people died, including the nurse who treated the patients. kozhikode district recorded the highest number of deaths due to Nipah virus infection in 2018 and 2021. Notably, in 2021, a 12-year-old boy lost his life to the virus. According to the World health Organization (WHO), Nipah virus infection is a zoonotic disease. It has been reported to spread from animals to humans, through contaminated food, or directly from person to person. The health department has also warned that those diagnosed with the disease may suffer from various diseases ranging from severe respiratory disease and fatal encephalitis. The mortality rate of this Nipah virus is about 70 percent. It is also worth noting that there is no vaccine for this virus yet.
