The 7th case of monkeypox has come to light in the capital Delhi on Monday. With this, now the total number of monkeypox cases in the country has reached 12. In this 7th case reported in Delhi, the infected patient is a 24-year-old Nigerian woman. The victim woman was admitted to Delhi's Loknayak Hospital after she showed symptoms of monkeypox infection. The test samples were sent to the lab of ICMR-NIV in Pune. Monkeypox has been confirmed from here.


What is the condition of the infected woman?

The condition of the woman is stable now. She was living in Sharda Vihar, Delhi. She was admitted to the hospital after having a fever, sore throat and pain, and a red rash. At present, 2 patients with monkeypox are being treated at Loknayak Hospital. Whereas, 5 patients have been discharged from the hospital after recovery.

How is monkeypox spread?

It also spreads through contact with or an infected person. There is also a risk of spreading the disease by coming in contact with an infected person, having s*x or using the things used by them.

The government has issued guidelines

To control monkeypox and make people aware, the Union health Ministry has released a list of Dos and Don'ts. This list explains what to do and what not to do to prevent monkeypox.

What to do?

Monkeypox-infected patients stay in isolation.

Keep washing your hands with soap or sanitiser.

Use disinfectants.

What not to do?

Do not share your towels, sheets or clothing with anyone who has come in contact with a monkeypox patient.

If you see the symptoms of monkeypox, do not go to any public event or meeting.

Don't scare people on the basis of misinformation.
