Google AI: “Rearrange Your Living Room for IPL Victory” – When Even the Search Giant Chases Astrology Rupees

SIBY JEYYA
Google just dropped a new IPL ad series starring ishaan khatter and sara Arjun. Cute couple, fun banter, modern AI vibes… until the fourth one.

Sara straight-up asks google AI: “Can Vastu help my boyfriend’s team win?” Without missing a beat, the AI dives in and tells her exactly how to rearrange the furniture in his living room for better “energy flow.”
Hold up.
Even if you’re a hardcore Vastu believer and think there’s some ancient methodology at play, explain this: how the hell does shifting a sofa 500 kilometres away magically affect a cricket team’s dressing room, players’ mindset, or match result? The team isn’t even in the same city. The logic collapses the second you think about it for more than three seconds.

Here’s the brutal part:

- google built its entire empire on data, algorithms, evidence, and ruthless scientific rigour.
- This ad isn’t “harmless fun” — it’s actively endorsing pseudoscience for millions of viewers.
- The only real winner? The massive, lucrative astrology and “predictions” market, google clearly wants a slice of.

A company that once stood for “Don’t be evil” and “organise the world’s information” is now happily cashing in on superstition to drive early adoption of its AI tools. That’s not clever marketing. That’s a quiet betrayal of everything that made google legendary.

India deserves better from its favourite tech brand. If you’re going to sell AI as the future, at least don’t drag it back into the past with furniture-moving cricket voodoo.
