Flight cancellation or delay: Compensation for passengers!?
The government has clearly explained the rights of passengers in case of flight cancellation or delay and the details of compensation to passengers. The Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has recently shared some rules related to passenger flights. Union minister of State for Aviation General VK Singh has informed about these rules. If the flight is canceled, the airline must offer another flight or refund the full amount of the ticket. Apart from this, the airline will also provide additional compensation to the passengers. Apart from the compensation, food and refreshment services should be provided to them while waiting for the second flight. If an alternative flight is available later, the passenger will be reimbursed for the hotel accommodation and transportation to and from the airport.
If the flight is canceled or delayed due to extraordinary circumstances beyond the control of the airline, the airline will not have to pay the money in that case. If a flight is delayed for 2 hours, passengers will be offered a free soft drink. If the flight delay is between 2.5 to 5 hours and if the delay is more than 3 hours, passengers will be provided with a soft drink. If the flight is delayed by 6 hours, the airline must notify or notify the passenger at least 24 hours before the flight departure time. The option to travel on a different flight should be given.
Flight cancellation: According to the aviation ministry rules, the airline has to offer another flight to those customers or refund the full amount. This rule applies if the flight is canceled 2 weeks prior to its departure date.
