China Declared State Of Emergency Over Another Virus Outbreak ?
WHO Declares Global health Emergency for Novel Coronavirus
According to Scientist.org, the latest coronavirus outbreak in china has been declared a worldwide health emergency by the World health Organization (WHO). At a press conference in Geneva, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made the announcement. The new virus has infected 7,834 people in 18 different countries since it was initially made public by china on december 31, 2019. All 170 deaths have occurred in China. The WHO emergency committee, which convened earlier, recommended the designation of a Public health Emergency of international Concern (PHEIC). Didier Houssin, the president of the committee, described the conclusion as "almost unanimous."
Since its inception fifteen years ago, the PHEIC designation has only been used six times."This declaration is not due to the situation in china but the potential for the virus to spread to countries with weaker health systems," Tedros said. He emphadata-sized his continued confidence in China's ability to stop the spread. The WHO has outlined measures to combat the pandemic, including accelerating vaccine research and dispelling myths, according to Scientist.org.
Rise of Human Metapneumovirus in China
Infections with the human metapneumovirus (HMPV) are increasing in china, which is causing health problems. Financial Express claims that this respiratory virus, which was first identified in 2001, has now become more prevalent in northern regions, particularly among children under the age of 14. Laboratory reporting and case verification procedures have been initiated by China's National Disease Control and Prevention Administration. Financial Express reports that data from december 16–22 shows an upsurge in acute respiratory infections, including HMPV. Experts warn that respiratory illnesses might significantly increase throughout the winter.
Monitoring and Precautionary Measures
China's disease control administration is piloting a surveillance system for pneumonia of unknown origin. This effort was sparked by reports of an upsurge in occurrences of respiratory ailments. According to Financial Express, health experts worldwide are advising people to take precautions including wearing masks and often washing their hands. Despite rumors on social media to the contrary, china has not officially declared a state of emergency.
