Hundred Death Penalties in three months...!
Usually in order to curb crime .. Punishment is given with the intention of instilling fear in the criminals to do wrong again. While these punishments are common in some countries, they are more severe in others. In countries like iran, however, the punishments are unimaginable. Even if there is a small mistake .. there will be severe punishments. That is why the number of executions recorded in that country every year is high. But more than a hundred people have been executed in just three months this year.
It is not fair for a hundred convicts to escape but .. the motto of the indian judiciary is that not a single innocent person should be punished. That is why even those who have committed heinous crimes here often escape easily. But not so in the country of Iran. There will be severe punishments for even the smallest mistake. The death penalty is more common in that country. Even minors can understand how harsh the sanctions are if there are executions.
More than a hundred people have been hanged in iran in just three months this year. The United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva said in its latest report that 105 people had been executed in the three months between january 1 and march 20 this year.
Most of those executed were from minority communities, according to a new report. Nada al-Nashif, deputy chief of human rights at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, released the report on Iran. Nada al-Nashif said 260 people would be executed by 2020 and at least 310 by 2021, including at least 14 women. This year, the same trend continued. 105 people were executed between january 1 and march 20.
The United Nations has expressed grave concern over the use of the death penalty for minor offenses, including drug-related offenses. Nashif said 52 people had been sent to Shiraz Jail for execution on drug charges. She lamented the death penalty for juvenile offenders in violation of international law. Two people have been sentenced to death in minor crime cases this year. More than 85 juvenile offenders have been executed, she said.
