In a case related to the murder of the farmers, the Chief Justice ordered the government to record and protect the confessions of all witnesses.


The incident in which farmers were killed after being hit by a car in Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh, has sent shockwaves across the country. The son of Union minister Ajay Mishra was added as the accused in the case and arrested. The supreme court had strongly criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for not handling the case properly.

In this context, the case relating to Lakhimpur Kheri came up for hearing again today before the Chief Justice of the supreme Court. At that time, the court raised a series of questions to the Uttar Pradesh government regarding the killing of farmers.


The court also expressed dissatisfaction with the Uttar Pradesh government's report on the case.


If the report is filed at the last minute, how can we read it? File at least one day in advance. Out of a total of 44 witnesses, in this case, you have recorded the confession of only 4 witnesses. Why not get a confession from others? Chief Justice NV ramana questioned.

UP responded to this. Prosecutor, the process for obtaining the confession is ongoing. He said all the main culprits have been arrested.


Asked how many people have been arrested?, ‘They have been arrested for two offences. One has been arrested for killing farmers and the other for killing people associated with a car that collided with farmers. In the first case, 10 people were arrested.


The Chief Justice then intervened and ordered the government to record and protect the testimonies of all the witnesses in the case.


‘Until the police question them and get a confession, we can’t get anything further in this matter. The Chief Justice advised that this should not be an endless story.
