Delhi Metro Completes First Ring, PM Modi to Flag Off Extensions
On march 8, international Women’s Day, prime minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two new metro corridors in delhi and lay the foundation stone for three additional corridors under Phase v (A) of the delhi Metro.
The inauguration will make delhi home to the country’s first ring metro, significantly improving connectivity across the city and reducing road traffic, contributing to cleaner air.
The Majlis Park-Maujpur-Babarpur pink Line corridor spans 12.3 kilometers with 8 elevated stations, forming part of the Majlis Park-Shiv vihar pink Line. The entire pink Line corridor will total approximately 71.56 kilometers, connecting areas like Majlis Park, Burari, Jharoda Majra, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Surghat, Nanaksar-Sonia vihar, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, yamuna Vihar, and Maujpur-Babarpur.
The Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park Magenta Line corridor, spanning 9.92 kilometers with 7 elevated stations, extends the existing Botanical Garden-Krishna Park Magenta Line, bringing the total Magenta Line length to 49 kilometers and improving connectivity for noida and North delhi areas.
The corridors include engineering feats such as one section reaching 28.36 meters in height, a new bridge over the yamuna River, and a double-decker viaduct, marking the fifth bridge of the delhi Metro over the Yamuna.
The foundation stone will be laid for three new corridors under Phase v (A):Central Vista Corridor (Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, 9.913 km, underground, 9 stations) connecting landmarks like Kartavya Bhavan, Bharat Mandapam, and Yuge-Yugen Bharat Museum.
Golden Line extension (Aerocity to IGI airport Terminal-1, 2.263 km, underground, 1 station) linking two existing stations.
Golden Line extension (Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj, 3.9 km, elevated, 3 stations) including Sarita vihar Depot, Madanpur Khadar, and Kalindi Kunj.
These projects will enhance public transportation in delhi and NCR, allowing residents of faridabad and Ballabhgarh to reach Tughlakabad and the Domestic Terminal-1 of the airport. Noida passengers can travel to Kalindi Kunj and access South delhi and airport areas via the Magenta and Golden Lines.
The inauguration ceremony will take place at DDA Utsav Sthal in front of the Nirankari Mandal, and Chief minister Rekha Gupta emphadata-sized the role of these projects in transforming delhi into a truly developed capital.
Overall, the new corridors will streamline traffic flow, improve urban mobility, and integrate key residential, commercial, and tourist areas into Delhi’s growing metro network.
