Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department minister P.K. Sekarbabu conducted an inspection of the newly constructed Railway Overbridge (ROB) at Korukkupet Railway 2B Level Crossing on behalf of the Greater chennai Corporation. The project has been completed at an estimated cost of ₹96.04 crore and is expected to be inaugurated by the Honourable chief minister of tamil Nadu on 12.02.2026.Major Boost to Traffic Management in North ChennaiThe Korukkupet Railway Overbridge has been constructed with the objective of easing chronic traffic congestion caused by frequent closure of the level crossing due to train movements. Once opened to the public, the overbridge will ensure smooth and uninterrupted vehicular flow, significantly reducing travel time for residents of Korukkupet, Tondiarpet, Washermanpet, and surrounding northern parts of Chennai.Inspection of Structural Quality and Safety MeasuresDuring the inspection, minister Sekarbabu reviewed the structural quality, safety standards, and finishing works of the overbridge. Officials briefed the minister on the technical aspects of the project, including load capacity, drainage facilities, pedestrian safety features, and lighting arrangements.
