An organization called the Muslim Consumer Rights Council organized a demonstration in the Bangshal neighborhood of Dhaka, Bangladesh, calling for a boycott of eateries that don't offer beef. According to the demonstrators, all restaurants should provide beef meals, and those that don't should be forced to close.
They said that eateries that don't offer meat are in opposition to Islamic principles. Muhammad Arif Al Khabir, the council's convener, was reported by the Dhaka Tribune as claiming that Western countries that do not serve halal cuisine in their restaurants are acting unfairly, as beef is a representation of Islamic identity.
According to the Dhaka Tribune, demonstrators had assembled in front of the Hotel Al Razzaque in the Bangshal neighborhood of Old Dhaka, yelling anti-Indian and anti-Hindutva chants. Avoid such places" and "Beef or cow dung? "Beef! Beef!"
Muhammad Arif Al Khabir maintained that while eating camel flesh is not required, Muslims are obligated to do so as they had to prove their loyalty to islam over Jewish dietary laws. Similar to this, Muslims must demonstrate their loyalty to islam over hinduism by eating beef, even though it is not required.
He cited verse 208 of the Quran's Surah Al-Baqarah, arguing that while eating camel flesh is not required, it has become necessary for Muslims because of its association with Jewish dietary restrictions. Similarly, eating beef becomes a statement of religion for Muslims in the context of Hinduism.
Arif Al Khabir said that to avoid offending Muslims, Western countries should serve Halal cuisine at their eateries. Because they do not wish to accommodate Muslims, Jews and Christians in Western countries do not serve Halal cuisine at their restaurants. The only choice left to Muslims is to start their own Halal restaurants.
Arif Al Khabir went on to say that every restaurant should have at least one beef dish on their menu as a way to show their support for Muslims. They must be representatives of india and Hindutva if they aren't. He went on to say that they ought to be boycotted nationwide.
