Ventilation Crisis - Hyderabad Suffocates

G GOWTHAM
A recent research that was published in a reputable publication has alarmingly exposed the city of Hyderabad's apparent severe ventilation issue. The city's built-up area increased by 13.7% to 51.8% in the past ten years, which eventually caused the percentage of inadequately ventilated areas to skyrocket from 0.7% to 31.6%.

According to the report, these places typically data-border highly populated, socioeconomically disadvantaged populations that lack basic facilities like restrooms. Increased traffic density, poor sanitation, and industrial expansion are the main causes of the poor ventilation. The areas most impacted include densely inhabited areas such as Chandrayanagutta, Rajendranagar, Karwan, and Santoshnagar.

These places, including as slums and industrial zones, have become susceptible hotspots due to the administration's inability to provide basic public utilities to the marginalized people living there. The poor administration has drawn criticism from social media. "Our city is suffocating due to the rapid urbanization," one person commented. To enhance the quality of the air, we must act right away.

Another said, "It's alarming to see how industrial growth is compromising our health," underscoring the significance of ventilation. Ventilation must be given top priority in urban planning. In order to address the problem, experts have called for the implementation of ventilation-sensitive urban design, which might then be reproduced in other cities such as delhi and Mumbai. To guarantee the residents' right to life, all legislators and urban planners must work together to make sure they have access to enough air to breathe.
