Three Muslim Guys Killed in Police Firing in Sambhal While Protesting Against Survey of Shahi Masjid
Noman, Mohd Bilal Ansari (25), and Naeem (28), have been identified as the deceased. According to an ABP news report, CO Anuj Chaudhary has also confirmed the deaths.
At approximately seven in the morning, the event occurred when the commissioner designated by the local court and six members of his team entered the mosque to conduct the second survey. Members of the survey crew may be seen chanting slogans with a Hindutva group in a supposedly recorded film.
In response to a protest by Hindutva organizations claiming the Mughals had destroyed a temple to construct the ancient mosque, the court ordered the survey. Locals told Maktoob that the survey crew was accompanied by members of a Hindutva group.
The survey allegedly started tuesday evening, only hours after the court's decision, in response to a plea that senior counsel vishnu Shanker Jain had filed in the sambhal civil judge's court.
The Jama Masjid is a Mughal mosque from the 16th century. On the sambhal district's official website, the mosque is recognized as a "historic monument" and is said to have been constructed on the orders of Babar, the first Mughal emperor.
