What did india express dissatisfaction about Security Council?

India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Parvataneni Harish expressed dissatisfaction on behalf of india on the pace of progress in the Security Council reform. He said that there are some countries who like the status quo and oppose expansion in the permanent category at any cost because they feel that their neighboring countries may get an opportunity to become members.

Harish said in a session on tuesday (November 19), "Today's structure of the Security Council reflects the situation of 1945. It does not reflect today's realities." He delivered a lecture on the topic 'Response to Major Global Challenges: India's Way' at a program at Columbia University's 'School of international and Public Affairs' (SIPA). He gave a detailed overview of 'India's Ways' on major global issues ranging from advanced multilateralism, terrorism, demography, India's wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">digital revolution to the country's youth, climate change, democracy, healthcare and vaccines.

UN does a great job in humanitarian field - Harish

Harish said that the United Nations does a 'great job' in the humanitarian field, which meets the humanitarian needs of millions of people around the world, as well as in the field of development - through its special institutions in the field of child health, public health and labor. He said, "Yet for the common man, their perception, the way they see the United Nations, is neither of humanitarian dimension, nor of development dimension or public health dimension. They only see the inability of the United Nations to prevent conflicts in regions like ukraine and West Asia. This is their view and perhaps this is the only yardstick by which they assess the efficiency of the United Nations."
