A news 18 malayalam report claims that Rajinikanth and dhanush were originally scheduled to play the key roles in the movie GOAT. dhanush was selected to portray the son, and Rajinikanth was scheduled to play the father. It is been said that Venkat, the filmmaker, had these two actors in mind when he created the plot. But Vijay was chosen instead once it was discovered that de-aging technology can make characters seem younger. The narrative was then apparently changed by the filmmaker to suit Vijay's part. Vijay is slated to play two roles in GOAT: Jeevan, the son of gandhi, and gandhi, a hostage negotiator.
