Want more babies: Trump says he would fund IVF
The Republican front-runner for president, donald trump, stated on thursday that he is in favor of insurance companies or the government paying for in vitro fertilization (IVF), a move that is probably meant to appeal to female voters. "We will be footing the bill for that treatment under the trump administration," trump stated in an NBC news interview. "Or we're going to be mandating that the insurance company pay."
Currently, US health insurance companies are not required to pay for IVF treatments, which may run into the tens of thousands of dollars. Reiterating that insurance companies would have to pay "under a mandate" is one possibility, according to Trump. Later, during a Michigan event, the former president announced the program, telling the assembled audience, "Your government will pay for or your insurance company will be mandated to pay for all costs associated with IVF treatment."
Additionally, trump declared that his government would support the tax deduction of "major newborn expenses" for new parents. He said, "We want more babies."
