Shah Rukh Khan recalls the saddest moment...?
In the IPL 2024 final in chennai today, the two-time defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will play the 2016 Champions hyderabad (SRH). Shah Rukh Khan, a co-owner of KKR, reminisced about how the team turned losing days into winning ones under skipper gautam gambhir, who guided the team to titles in 2012 and 2014.
Referring to a statement made by a cricket expert, the bollywood celebrity said that "it used to hurt" when people made negative comments about KKR when they weren't winning many games.
In an interview with Star sports, which the sportscaster posted on social media, SRK stated, "We had the finest set of players in the entire world and we kept on failing only again and again."
"I still recall the saddest moment, which was when someone said to me, 'only their playing kit is nice, not their game.'" (kisi ne mujhe aise bola 'inka costume hi achha hai, inka game play to achhai hai hi nahi). I recall hearing an expert discuss this. It hurt once. It was amazing to return with gautam gambhir and accomplish this. It taught us how to fail, but to never give up and never be losers. That's what sports teach you," Shah Rukh remarked.
It's interesting to note that Gambhir, now serving as the team's mentor, is about to win his third IPL championship. Prior to the 2024 IPL season, Gambhir, who was also a member of India's victories in the 2007 t20 world cup and the 2011 ODI world cup, joined KKR as a mentor following a period in a similar capacity with the lucknow Super Giants. KKR has only lost three games on their way to the existing season's final. They haven't lost since their april 26 loss to the punjab Kings, meaning they will be playing in the final against the Sunrisers having gone exactly one month without a loss.
