The National capital Region (NCR) and Bengaluru are the top two cities in india for high street retail, with hyderabad coming in third. This is according to Knight Frank India's most recent "Think india Think Retail 2024" study. According to the research, hyderabad is home to 15% of the 82% of shops that are situated in the top eight cities.

The study names five well-known high streets that are dispersed around hyderabad and have a major impact on the city's retail industry. These major thoroughfares can be found in prominent localities including Ameerpet, Banjara Hills, Gachibowli, Jubilee Hills, and Somajiguda; each one provides locals and tourists with a distinctive shopping experience. As to the findings of Knight Frank India's principal retail store survey, hyderabad has a total shopping centre stock of 0.6 million square metres (6.7 million square feet) as of 2023.

The paper also explores Hyderabad's retail centre vacancy rates, excluding ghost stock. With a vacancy rate of 22.2% in 2022, there was a significant amount of retail space available. But when ghost stock is taken out, the vacancy rate falls to 6.6%, which indicates a more competitive retail sector. The vacancy rate further dropped to 17.4% in 2023, continuing the upward trend and indicating rising demand and occupancy in citywide shopping centres.
