There have been rumors that Jana Sena leader pawan kalyan may run in the 2019 general elections from the pithapuram constituency in the kakinada district. JSP leaders, however, now assert that the governing ycp is using unscrupulous means, such as selecting officials who would be helpful to Pawan, in order to guarantee his loss in Pithapuram.
In a purported letter to the election Commission, the ycp administration through the kakinada Collectorate asked for the appointment of K. Subba Rao, vice-chairman of the KUDA, as the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and the district's Joint collector (JC) as the Returning Officer (RO) for Pithapuram.
Praveen Aditya, a former polavaram project Administrator and ITDA PO of Rampachodavaram, has been appointed Joint collector of Kakinada. He is currently Pithapuram's RO. The election Commission's guidelines for IAS transfers are broken by this appointment. ROs are nominated as EROs in other constituencies. However, separate individuals have been assigned to both positions in Pithapuram. JSP leaders protested this action, claiming that praveen Aditya's appointment was not in compliance with the law.
They complained to Chief Electoral official mukesh Kumar Meena, claiming it was illegal to assign an official in a new capacity to the same area in which they had previously worked for four years. They referred to this action as the YCP's shady plot to unseat pawan kalyan in Pithapuram.
