With the announcement of the guidelines for the citizenship amendment act (CAA) ahead of the next lok sabha elections, the bharatiya janata party (BJP) has delivered on another pledge included in its 2019 election manifesto. The caa will expedite the process of granting citizenship rights to marginalized minorities in the neighbourhood.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Rules, 2024 were notified today by the Modi administration. These regulations now make it possible for minorities in pakistan, bangladesh, and afghanistan who have been persecuted for their religious beliefs to become citizens of our country. The promise made by the creators of our constitution to the Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians living in those countries has been realized with this notification, PM Shri @narendramodi Ji," Union home minister amit shah wrote on X shortly after the announcement.

The statement on monday is expected to pay off for the bjp in West Bengal, Punjab, and Assam. The government pledged to implement the caa in West Bengal, where the Matua community, one of the Scheduled Castes that came from bangladesh mostly because to religious persecution, in order to appease this marginalized population that has lagged behind social and economic advancement.
