TMC to Election Commission regarding raid in Sandeshkhali
TMC to election commission regarding raid in Sandeshkhali…
A cache of weapons has been recovered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a raid at the house of a close aide of former trinamool congress (TMC) leader Shahjahan Sheikh and his relatives in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal. On Saturday, the ruling party TMC has complained to the election commission regarding the matter.
In the complaint, the TMC party has also written that there is no way to know with certainty whether these weapons were actually recovered during the search and seizure process. Or they were kept secret by CBI/NSG. It is further stated that 'law and order' is a domain entirely within the purview of the State government, but the cbi did not issue any actionable notice to the State government or the police authorities before doing so. Moreover, the state police have a fully functional bomb disposal squad, which could have assisted in the entire operation, if the cbi felt that a bomb squad was required during such raids.
Weapons recovered from the house of Sheikh's relative Let us tell you that on Friday, during the second phase of lok sabha elections, a police service revolver and foreign made weapons and ammunition were recovered from the premises of an associate of suspended TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal. Ammunition was confiscated. The searches were conducted in connection with the mob attack on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team in January, which was allegedly instigated by Sheikh. The owner of the house, identified as Abu Taleb Molla, is a relative of Sheikh, sources said, adding that it was not clear why such a large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives were kept inside the house. Shaikh was arrested by West bengal police on 29 February.
