It has been announced in the Interim Budget that free electricity will be provided to households using solar electricity. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman is addressing the Central Interim Budget in Parliament. Speaking at that time, she said, "When prime minister Modi took office in 2014, the indian economy was lagging behind. The indian economy has seen growth in the last 10 years. It has taken India's economy on the path of growth in the data-face of various challenges. 80 crore people were given free ration and hunger and starvation were eradicated. A lot of importance is given to agriculture in the country. 11.8 crore farmers are being directly financed through the Kisan scheme,” he said.
Also, "The central government has established 3000 new ITIs. 7 IITs, 16 IIITs, 7 IIMs, 15 AIIMS and 390 Universities have been set up. Also, 1.4 crore youth have been given skill development training. 30 crore women have been given employment loans in 10 years. Under the Mudra Yojana, 43 crore youth have been given loans to start new businesses. The number of women enrolled in higher education has increased by 28% in 10 years. Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 70% of houses in rural areas have been given to women as single or joint owners.
Free electricity will be provided to households using solar power. 300 units of free electricity per month will be provided to one crore households through solar rooftop lighting. A family can save Rs 18 crore per year due to solar power generation,” she said.
