CM Stalin ready to provide Food and Money for Sri Lankan Tamils

MK Stalin, the chief minister of tamil Nadu, called Union Foreign minister S. Jaisankar and pleaded with him to assist Sri Lankan Tamils who are suffering from the country's economic turmoil. MK Stalin, the chief minister of tamil Nadu, spoke with Union Foreign minister S. Jaisankar over the phone today (April 8) on the current situation in Sri Lanka. He voiced his sincere sympathy for the condition of Sri Lankan Tamils at the time, as the country data-faced an unparalleled economic catastrophe.

In this regard, the tamil Nadu government is willing to send basic commodities such as rice, pulses, and life-saving pharmaceuticals through the port of Thoothukudi for the benefit of Tamils in Sri Lanka, particularly those in the Northern and Eastern Provinces, as well as upcountry Tamils in Colombo. And they asked the Union minister of External Affairs to grant the required permissions and make the necessary arrangements for distribution via the indian Embassy in Jaffna.
In this regard, on 31-3-2022, the chief minister met with India's Prime minister, recalling his demands and requesting that they be met quickly. The chief minister expressed his deep concern over the frequent attacks and arrests of tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy, and urged the central government to take immediate action to free the tamil fishermen and their fishing boats who have been detained by the Sri Lankan Navy and are being held in Sri Lankan jails.
