On Saturdays, Sundays, and the 17 days in december that are set aside for festivals, banks will not be open.

Banks will close throughout december for a number of reasons, including the Feast of St. Francis Xavier, Pa-Togan Nengminja Sangma, the anniversary of U SoSo Tham's passing, goa Liberation Day, christmas Eve, christmas Celebration, U Kiang Nangbah, and New Year's Eve/Lossong/Namsoong.

If not, all ATM services, banking apps, and bank websites will continue to run throughout the year.

In the meantime, bank employees have been demanding a five-day workweek. The proposal, if approved, would make every saturday a bank holiday instead of just the second and fourth.

The long-running project is now expected to receive final approval from the finance minister soon, according to sources.
