Sun Direct DTH Top in the list..? How did this happen..?
In this Internet world where
technology and
service quality are changing in all sectors in
india, the DTH sector is losing customers. Recently, the PIR report released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of
india (Trai) stated that the private DTH companies in
india lost around 16 lakh
customers in the
march quarter. As a result, the overall DTH subscriber base in
india declined to 66.92 million from 68.52 million in the
march quarter of last year.
There are 4 DTH companies in
india currently operating with 69.57 million active customers. Looking at the market dominance of the 4 DTH companies, Tata Play of the Tata Group is the dominant player. Tata Play alone has about 33.23 percent market share in the
indian DTH market. It was 33.48 percent compared to last year.
Tata Play is followed by Bharti Telemedia i.e.
airtel DTH with 26.24 percent market share, Dish
tv with 22.10 percent market share, and
sun Direct with 18.43 percent market share. Only
sun Direct and Dish
tv gained more
customers in the
march quarter. Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), as on 31.03.2022 there are 20 IPTV operators.
At present,
andhra pradesh State Fibernet Limited has 7,50,306
customers at the end of
march 2022.The number of private satellite
tv channels licensed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has decreased from 893 in Q4 2021 to 885 in Q1 2022. The total number of pay channels has decreased from 543 to 540, while the number of free-to-air (FTA) channels has decreased from 350 to 345.
Apart from radio channels operated by All
india Radio (AIR), as per the data reported by FM radio operators to TRAI as on 31
march 2022, 386 private FM radio channels in 113 cities are operated by 36 private FM radio operators.
