Jadeja’s form should not be questioned - Sunil Gavaskar

According to sunil Gavaskar, ravindra Jadeja's performance in the 2024 t20 world cup shouldn't be questioned. Jadeja has only scored 16 runs at an average of 8 and a strike rate of 145.45 in the multi-nation tournament, indicating that he is still far from peaking. The veteran hasn't performed as well with the ball either, taking only one wicket at an economy rate of 7.80.

On june 24, Jadeja achieved an unblemished nine points from five balls in the match over Australia. After that, he bowled just one over before Glenn Maxwell attacked him. However, Gavaskar said that Jadeja shouldn't be scrutinised because of his prior performance. According to the Little Master, Jadeja's expertise and fielding abilities add a great deal of worth.

"Given his extensive experience, I have no concerns whatsoever. He's done well for the opportunities he's had. Not to mention, he prevented 20 or 30 runs from being scored on the field by fielding, catching catches, and getting outs. Thus, remember those 20–30+ runs. When he steps onto the pitch, everything he does with the bat and ball enhances his skill set.

Therefore, I don't think we should even consider asking (Jadeja) questions. "The issue with india and its supporters is that after two poor performances, you're left wondering what to do with him," Gavaskar stated on Star Sports.

"You are aware of the concern. Whoever asks these questions doesn't even consider their own careers, if they've made two mistakes, or whether others are doubting their ability to continue in their chosen field. You don't doubt Jadeja's spot in the starting lineup; this is just a great television topic. "He's an incredible talent," Gavaskar continued.
