The Archaeological survey of india (ASI) and Geological survey of india (GSI) employ advanced technologies such as Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Very Low Frequency (VLF) to detect metals beneath the ground. ASI, a government agency under the Ministry of Culture, and GSI, a scientific agency under the Ministry of Mines, play crucial roles in geological exploration.


Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology involves a thorough examination of each layer of soil. This method helps determine the potential presence of metals beneath the soil based on the analysis of soil layers.


Very Low Frequency (VLF) technology, on the other hand, creates an electromagnetic field when applied to the ground. This field interacts with metals, causing them to emit specific sounds. By analyzing these sounds, experts can identify the types of metals present underground, whether it be gold, silver, or copper.
