The World bank has approved an additional $108 million in financing to improve the lives of women and girls living in the northwestern khyber pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The funding aims to improve their access to essential services and economic opportunities. The additional financing will be allocated to two key projects: the khyber pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development Project (KITE) and the khyber pakhtunkhwa Rural Access Project (KPRAP). The KITE project has been allocated $30 million and the KPRAP project has been allocated $78 million. According to the World bank report, the funding will help the province achieve two key goals: first, increasing people’s access to markets, jobs, health, and education services; and second, improving the province’s preparedness for natural disasters.

The $78 million funding for the khyber pakhtunkhwa Rural Access Project (KPRAP) will focus primarily on improving and rehabilitating rural roads. This will create safe and climate-resilient road infrastructure. This will facilitate rural people’s access to essential services such as schools, health facilities, and markets. In particular, the project will ensure that girls go to school safely and at a low cost. This is expected to benefit about 1.76 million people. This additional funding highlights the World Bank’s continued commitment to supporting the development goals of pakistan and khyber pakhtunkhwa province, said Muhammad Bilal Baracha, the project’s task force leader.
The $30 million funding for the khyber pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development Project (KITE) aims to boost the province’s tourism sector. The funding will complete the reconstruction of two major roads leading to scenic tourist destinations in the neighboring province. This will improve access for tourists to the region and create economic opportunities for local communities. He added that the project will create jobs, train local people, and preserve the country’s rich cultural heritage.
The project’s task force leader, Muhammad Bilal Baracha, said the project is critical to improving the lives of people in the province, especially women and girls, by improving access to essential services and economic opportunities. Baracha added that this additional financial assistance demonstrates the World Bank’s commitment to supporting the development goals of pakistan and khyber pakhtunkhwa Province. The funding is expected to make a significant contribution to the social and economic development of khyber pakhtunkhwa Province.
