After Nagpur, HMPV case found in Mumbai too...

HMPV virus has knocked in Maharashtra. Now after Nagpur, a case of HMPV has come to light in Hiranandani Hospital in Powai, Mumbai. Its symptoms have been found in a six-month-old girl here. The girl was admitted to the hospital on january 1 due to severe cough, chest tightness and oxygen level falling to 84 percent. Doctors confirmed the virus through a new rapid PCR test. Doctors say that the girl was given symptomatic treatment with medicines like bronchodilators in the ICU, as there is no specific treatment for this virus. The girl was discharged from the hospital after five days.

No information about the case - health Department

However, meanwhile, the BMC health Department said that they have not received any report of this case, but they have increased monitoring of influenza and severe respiratory infections.

The virus affects children and the elderly

The doctor says that HMPV has existed for decades and mainly affects children and the elderly, but it is unlikely to cause an epidemic like Covid.

Two cases in Nagpur

Earlier on tuesday (7 January), two suspected cases of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) were reported in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Both the patients are healthy. Their samples have been collected. The health official said that the patients were sent home after treatment and their samples have been sent to AIIMS and Pune-based National Institute of Virology (NIV).

At the same time, district Magistrate Vipin Itankar said that the children are healthy. He said that there is no need to panic. Let us tell you that cases of HMPV have been reported in Karnataka, tamil Nadu and Gujarat.
