Mayawati's party will contest, made a big announcement?
Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj party (BSP) will contest the delhi assembly elections. A BSP leader said that the party will field candidates on all seats and the first list will be released by january 15.
A party official told news agency PTI that the delhi assembly elections are both interesting and challenging. The city has been divided into five zones and the process of finalizing the names of candidates is underway in all zones. He said, "Coordinators have been appointed in each zone to oversee the process of selection of candidates. These central coordinators will finalize their recommendations and send them to Behenji (BSP chief Mayawati). The official said that the final decision on the candidates will be based on these recommendations.

A party official said, "Currently, small meetings are being held at the grassroots level, where major issues and agendas are discussed and candidates will be selected based on these discussions. He also revealed that the election campaign is likely to start on january 5. After the election dates and candidates are announced, mayawati and her successors will actively participate in the campaign by holding rallies.
Electoral history of BSP in Delhi
Let us tell you that BSP had fielded candidates on all the seats in the 2020 elections as well, however, in the AAP wave, the party failed to win a single seat. It got only 0.71 percent votes. Similarly, in the 2015 assembly elections, it got 1.3 percent votes.
BSP's hands remained empty in the 2013 elections as well. The party last won two seats in the 2008 assembly elections. Then it got 14.05 percent votes. In 2003, BSP had fielded candidates on 40 seats and got 5.76 percent votes. Now once again BSP has announced to contest the elections. In delhi, the contest is mainly between aam aadmi party (AAP), bjp and Congress.
