Mayawati says ‘The anti-reservation mentality of BJP is clearly visible’
Reportedly Bahujan Samaj party (BSP) president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister mayawati attacked the congress and Samajwadi party (SP) on sunday and said that they should not speak on reservation, because when the Congress-led UPA was in power, they had colluded to oppose the bill giving reservation in promotion to Scheduled Castes (SC) and scheduled tribes (ST). Supporting 'One Nation-One Election', mayawati said that this will reduce expenses and public welfare works will not be stopped much. She also urged other parties to support it. mayawati demanded that reservation for SC, st and Other backward classes (OBC) should be included in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution so that any kind of tampering with it can be prevented. Central and state laws listed in the Ninth Schedule are free from judicial review.
Meanwhile when addressing the journalists, he said that during the discussion on the Constitution in parliament this time, the ruling party and the opposition, especially the congress and the Samajwadi party, have made a lot of "baseless statements" about the reservation of the SC, st and OBC classes of the country, which do not have even an iota of truth in them. He said, "It would have been better if these two parties (Congress-SP) had remained silent on this issue in parliament, because during the congress government at the Centre, in collusion with this party (Congress), the SP had strongly opposed the Constitutional Amendment Bill related to reservation in promotion of SC, st classes."
Moreover the former chief minister said, "This bill was torn and thrown away by the SP in the parliament itself. This bill is still pending in the Parliament." The BSP chief also targeted the ruling bjp and said that this clearly reflects the anti-reservation mentality of the bjp, which is not in the mood to get it passed. mayawati said that there was a heated discussion in the parliament on the 'glorious journey of 75 years of the Constitution of India'. She said that the usefulness of this discussion is possible only when it is accepted with an open mind whether the ruling class has been able to provide employment and justice, a life of self-respect and self-esteem to crores of people of the country according to the sacred intention of the humanitarian and welfare constitution.
