maharashtra chief minister devendra fadnavis on thursday (December 12) said that the five percent increase in voting percentage in the assembly elections was completely beneficial for the bharatiya janata party (BJP)-led alliance as it was a response to the divisive politics and fake rhetoric of the opposition maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) which resulted in a spectacular victory for the BJP. At the 'India Economic Conclave' organized by 'Times Now', fadnavis said that the performance of the Congress, Sharad Pawar-led nationalist congress party (NCP) and the Shiv Sena-UBT-led MVA had reached its peak in the lok sabha elections, when they got 43.9 percent of the total votes cast. He said that there was a difference of only 0.3 percent between the MVA and the BJP-led Mahayuti.

cm targeted MVA

cm fadnavis said, 'They (MVA) had already reached the peak. They had done their best through divisive politics, appeasement politics and fake rhetoric. This increase in votes was a response to that, which benefited us.'

The BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP-led Mahayuti alliance won 235 seats in the 288-member maharashtra assembly elections and reduced the opposition alliance maha Vikas Aghadi to 46 seats. maharashtra had 61.5 percent voting in the lok sabha elections. The assembly elections held in november saw 66.11 percent voting. chief minister fadnavis said that countering anarchist statements by nationalist organizations, responding to the call for 'vote jihad' in favor of the opposition MVA and prime minister Narendra Modi's message of security in unity contributed to the spectacular victory of the BJP-led alliance in the assembly elections.

'BJP successful in countering fake narrative'

cm fadnavis said that bjp was successful in winning a landslide victory in maharashtra because it was successful in countering the fake narrative created by the opposition during the lok sabha elections. He said, 'Fake narratives were not created by any one party. rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo yatra created a fake narrative in the minds of the people. We contacted nationalist forces and urged them to counter them.'
