Who is Pakistan's new Chief Justice Yahya Afridi?Yahya Afridi, a supreme court judge, has been named Pakistan's next Chief Justice by President Asif ali Zardari. The President's office provided this information in a statement on Wednesday. According to the President's office press wing, this appointment will take effect on october 26, 2024, and has a set tenure of three years.The statement said, "This appointment has been made under Articles 175A (3), 177 and 179 of the Constitution." It also said that the President has also approved the swearing-in of Justice Yahya Afridi as Chief Justice on october 26. He is a member of the Kohat Frontier Region's Afridi tribe. He lives in the village of Banda. His early schooling was at Lahore's Aitchison College. After graduating from government College Lahore with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics, he went on to punjab University in Lahore to get a master of Arts in Economics.Notably, Afridi, 59, began practicing law in 1990 and was named a judge of the supreme court of pakistan in 2018. Prior to that, he was the Chief Justice of the Peshawar high court in the northwest khyber pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
