Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Madani has welcomed the interim order of the supreme court in which the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has banned the guidelines of cancelling the recognition of madrasas and giving admission to children studying in independent madrasas in schools. Maulana Madani called this decision a 'gust of cold wind', but at the same time said that our struggle is still long.
The supreme court has given two important decisions on the matter of madrasas today, although this decision is interim. The first decision stayed the decision of the Central and State Governments to close government madrasas. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) had made a recommendation to the states in June. The Centre had asked the states to take action on this. In the second decision, the court also stayed the order of the Uttar Pradesh and Tripura governments, which was to transfer students studying in madrasas to government schools.
In an exclusive conversation with ABP News, Maulana Mahmood Madani criticized the recent statements and actions of NCPCR Chairman Priyank Kanungo and said that it seems that he has turned a blind eye to the facts. On the one hand, he objects to the syllabus of Islamic books, which some people may consider correct in their opinion, although the truth is the opposite. If he sits and talks on this subject, he will definitely be satisfied, but his attitude seems aggressive and one-sided.
