LG raised questions on Delhi government!

Lt. governor of delhi Vinay Kumar Saxena has raised questions on the delhi government over the financial condition of the Municipal Corporation. Along with this, financial powers of more than 5 crores were handed over to the Corporation Commissioner. Giving information, the Lieutenant Governor's office said that due to the absence of a standing committee in the MCD and the stubbornness of Urban Development minister Saurabh Bhardwaj for several months, the corporation has not been able to do anything so far to solve the solid waste problem in the city. It said that to help reduce the existing problem, the Lieutenant governor (LG) of delhi has given financial powers of more than 5 crores to the MCD Commissioner. The Lieutenant Governor's office accused the delhi government and minister Saurabh Bhardwaj and said that on July 10, 2024, the Lieutenant governor had taken the initiative to hand over financial powers to the MCD as per the provisions of Section 202 of the DMC Act, 1957.

The lg office alleged, "Urban Development minister Saurabh Bhardwaj kept the file pending at his level abnormally and without any explanation, due to this process, the services related to the municipality were badly affected due to lack of financial approval. Because there was no standing committee in the corporation.

The Lieutenant Governor's office said that in view of the dire circumstances of the corporation, an amount of 1137.98 crores has been approved by the Lieutenant governor for the collection, transportation and road cleaning of municipal solid waste, for providing waste to energy facility at a cost of 604.26 crores in Narela, Bawana, Rs 46.17 crores for bio-mining of old waste in Singhola, as well as for the three big garbage dumps of delhi, 156.5 crores for Okhla, 223.50 crores for Ghazipur and 223.50 crores for Bhalswa.

The Lieutenant governor approved these financial powers by handing over them to the MCD Commissioner on tuesday (October 15). A proposal to this effect was again sent by the MCD to the delhi government on september 5, 2024 and after the approval of the Chief minister, it was sent to the lg today.
