Plus 1 Common Examination to Drug Eradication' - Features of State education Policy?

In the last financial report for the year 2021-22, it was announced that "this government will set up a high-level committee consisting of educators and experts to formulate a unique state education policy for the state in accordance with the historical legacy, current situation and future goals of tamil Nadu".

Accordingly, a committee was formed under the chairmanship of retired Justice T. Murugesan. The committee prepared its report and submitted it to chief minister Stalin. It said, "For the elimination of drug use, a separate committee may be constituted for each district, headed by the concerned district Collector, with appropriate guidelines, consisting of a mental health consultant, a health officer, a police officer, and a member from an NGO.

Plus 1 public examination should continue. Class 12 marks alone are not enough to get admission to colleges. Plus 1 mark should also be counted. As stated in the National education Policy, tamil Nadu should not follow the method of students dropping out of the course midway through their higher education and continuing in the same course again.

The National New education Policy should give a certificate to those who study only in the first year and drop out halfway through. The National Graduation Policy states that second-year leavers will be given diploma certificates and third-year leavers will be awarded degree certificates. After completion of five years can be admitted in first class.

The curriculum should focus on connecting education to everyday life and encourage self-directed learning. Bringing child development centers in the state under a single regulatory body is essential for proper management.

Apart from "Spoken English" thefocus should be primarily on "Spoken Tamil".A comprehensive regulation should be developed to monitor the functioning of Play Schools / Pre-Primary Schools Nurseries / Kindergartens etc. run by private management. The exams should be only at the school level till students write the public exams in class 10th.

Children in rural and tribal areas should be provided with more sports facilities and proper training, playgrounds and sports equipment. Funding should be ensured for meritorious students to participate in coaching camps and sports/athletic events at district, state and national levels.

Similarly, in higher education (open book assessment) exams can be written with the help of books. Advertisements should be banned by coaching centers and private educational institutes for exams including NEET,” it said.

After this, it is expected that the government will hold a hearing meeting on these recommendations soon and then the next step is expected to be taken.
