Because, a former chief minister and three turncoat leaders are in the race to win this reserved seat of Scheduled Caste. jalandhar seat, considered a congress stronghold, was once represented by inder kumar Gujral, who was the 12th prime minister of the country. To ensure that no political rival can breach its fort, congress has placed its bet on Dalit leader and former punjab cm Charanjit Singh Channi.

Phillaur (SC), Nakodar, Shahkot, Kartarpur (SC), jalandhar West (SC), jalandhar Central, jalandhar North, jalandhar Cantt and Adampur (SC). During the campaign, congress candidate Channi tells the voters about the development work done in his assembly constituency Chamkaur Sahib.
