Delhi hospital fire: 6 children killed; 12 people were rescued with injuries

At least six children died in a major fire that broke out at a children's hospital in Delhi's vivek Vihar on saturday night. Many others were injured.

Five others are being treated in hospital, an official said. The delhi fire Department says it received a call at 11.32 pm about the hospital fire. On information, police and firemen reached the spot and doused the fire.

Fire Officer Rajendra Atwal said, "At 11.32 pm, the fire control room received information about a fire in the hospital. A total of 16 fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire completely. 2 buildings were gutted. One was the hospital building. 2 floors of a residential building on the right side caught fire. 11-12 people were rescued and taken to hospital,” he said.

"Rescue work is going on. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained," TFS chief Atul Garg said. Garg added, "A fire call was received from a childcare center near ITI, B Block, vivek Vihar area. A total of nine fire tenders were dispatched."A day after a massive fire broke out in a sports zone in Gujarat's Rajkot, 27 people lost their lives, another horrific fire broke out in Delhi.
