Jharkhand minister Alamgir Alam has resigned from his post on Friday. He has submitted his resignation to raj Bhavan. Alamgir Alam is congress MLA from Pakur assembly constituency. Alamgir was again given the post of minister after Champai Soren took over the leadership after the resignation of hemant Soren. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating the money laundering case against Alamgir. ED had arrested him in this case on May 15.

He is in ED remand for six days. Alamgir's lawyer has claimed that there is no specific allegation against him. He has no direct involvement in the case. The lawyer claimed in the court that the ED is not revealing the name of the person who took the money or who committed the crime. Alamgir has no relation to the person named Jahangir from whose house the cash has been recovered. When ED demanded remand, Alamgir's lawyer opposed it citing health.

ED interrogated for two consecutive days

Alamgir Alam was interrogated by ED for about six hours. A day before this, the interrogation had lasted for nine hours. This interrogation took place in his office after which the ED arrested him. Alamgir came on the radar of ED when his personal secretary sanjeev kumar Lal was arrested. Apart from this, ED had also arrested sanjeev Kumar's servant Jahangari Alam. On May 6, ED had raided a flat belonging to him in which Rs 32 crore was recovered. Before Alamgir, former jharkhand CM hemant Soren was arrested after questioning in a money laundering case. After his arrest, a change of leadership was seen in Jharkhand.
