Amritpal Singh's father Tarsem Singh has made a big claim about contesting the lok sabha elections in Punjab. Tarsem Singh said that Amritpal Singh was not interested in contesting the elections, but at the request of 'Sa

ngat' or community, he changed his mind. The people of Sangat wanted him to contest the elections. Chief of 'Waris punjab De' organization Amritpal Singh is lodged in Dibrugarh jail of assam under the National Security Act.

Amritpal Singh will contest the lok sabha elections as an independent from Khadur Sahib parliamentary constituency of Punjab. Tarsem Singh said, "Amritpal Singh did not want to contest the elections but he said that if contesting the elections is the decision of 'Sangat' then he will change his decision and bow before 'Sangat'."

Amritpal Singh was arrested in april last year and the strict National Security Act (NSA) was imposed against him. He is lodged in Dibrugarh jail in assam along with his nine associates. According to PTI report, Amritpal Singh's father said that he will raise the issue of drug menace along with the release of 'Bandi Singh' or Sikh prisoners who have completed their sentence. He said that wherever we are going, people are supporting him. Tarsem Singh claimed that although the government tried hard to defame him, the people are with him. He said that Paramjit Kaur Khalra, wife of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, will lead the election campaign of Amritpal Singh.
