19 year old boy beaten to death on charges of 'sacrilege'…

A 19-year-old youth was beaten to death on saturday for allegedly desecrating Sri Guru Granth Sahib at a Gurudwara in Punjab's Firozpur. Giving this information, the police said that Bakshish Singh, a resident of Talli Ghulam village, had allegedly torn some pages of the Sikh holy book Guru Granth Sahib after entering the Gurudwara located in Bandala village. His father Lakhwinder Singh said that Bakshish was mentally ill and was undergoing treatment.

The police had registered an FIR against the youth on charges of sacrilege. Bakshish's father demanded the police to register a case against those who killed his son. After this incident, senior police officers including Senior Superintendent of police Soumya Mishra reached the village.

Jathedar of Akal Takht also expressed grief

Akal Takht's Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh also expressed grief over the Firozpur incident. While sharing the post on his social media account, he wrote that he is deeply saddened by the incident of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in Gurudwara baba Bir Singh of village Bandala in Firozpur district.

Death of blasphemy accused is a reaction to 'the failure of the law to punish the culprits'. Sikh Sangat has ordered social and religious boycott of the family of the accused of blasphemy and not allowing the last rites of the accused to be performed in any Gurdwara Sahib.

Incidents of sacrilege are increasing under a well thought out conspiracy

Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh further wrote that incidents of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji have been happening as part of a well-planned conspiracy for a long time. The government's law is neither proving successful in stopping blasphemy incidents nor in punishing the culprits. The incident of desecration of Gurudwara baba Bir Singh in Bandala village of Firozpur district is a very unfortunate incident which has broken the hearts of Sikhs in this regard.
