Lok Sabha Elections: shocking statement of Himanta Vishwa...

Assam chief minister Himanta vishwa Sharma has given a shocking statement during the election campaign in Dhubri, the Muslim-dominated lok sabha constituency of the state. Sharma on thursday targeted sitting All india United Democratic Front (AIUDF) mp Badruddin Ajmal and congress candidate Rakibul Hussain, saying that voting for these two leaders would be like 'expecting milk from a bull'. He claimed that there will be a triangular contest between the candidates of assam Gana Parishad (AGP), AIUDF and congress in the third phase of general elections on May 7.

‘Ajmal's time in Dhubri is over'

At public events in Golakganj, Bilasipara and Gauripur, chief minister Sarma confirmed that BJP's ally AGP is gaining support in areas where earlier it had no influence among the people. Highlighting the decline in support for AIUDF and congress in the area, he said at a public meeting in Golakganj, 'People have realized that Ajmal's time is over in Dhubri and they do not need Rakibul in Dhubri.' 26 lakh voters will decide the fate of 13 candidates including AIUDF's Badruddin Ajmal, Congress's Rakibul Hussain and AGP's Javed Islam.

Congress candidate Hussain criticized the CM

CM Sharma took a dig at congress General Secretary priyanka gandhi Vadra over her 'mafia raj' comment. He said, 'Priyanka gandhi has not seen the days of mafia rule during the congress rule. Today there is no bomb blast in the state, no firing, no ULFA, no NDFB, there was only mafia rule of Rokibul Hussain. The chief minister also said that priyanka and Rahul gandhi should be respected among the people of Assam. There is no support. Responding to Sarma's statement, congress candidate Rakibul Hussain criticized the assam chief minister, saying he has changed his stand after the first phase of voting in the ongoing lok sabha elections
