Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde's party shiv sena has made ravindra Vaikar its candidate from mumbai North West. On this seat, he will data-face uddhav Thackeray's shiv sena (UBT) candidate Amol Kirtikar. This announcement of shiv sena is being considered as a blow for former congress leader Sanjay Nirupam. Actually, Nirupam was staking his claim from this seat. Nirupam was angry with this seat being given to shiv sena (UBT) in MVA. Due to resentment, he made strong statements against congress and uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena. Later the party showed him the way out. However, Nirupam claimed that he himself had announced to leave Congress.

Who is ravindra Vaykar?

Ravindra Vaykar served as a corporator in BMC for 20 years. Was elected as councilor for the first time in 1992 from Jogeshwari area of Mumbai. During the years 2006 to 2010, Vaikar also served as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of mumbai Municipal Corporation.

After that he was elected mla from Jogeshwari east constituency in 2009, 2014 and 2019. Became the minister of State for Housing and Higher and Technical education in the BJP-Shiv Sena government that came to power in 2014. After that, Vaikar was the minister of State for Housing Department in the Mahavikas Aghadi government of 2019. After the split of shiv sena into two parts, he was with uddhav thackeray, however, a few months ago he joined Eknath Shinde faction's Shiv Sena.

History of mumbai North West seat

Uddhav Thackeray-led shiv sena candidate Gajanan Chandrakant Kirtikar won in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In the 2014 elections, he defeated congress candidate Gurudas Kamat. In the 2019 elections, he defeated the then congress candidate Sanjay Nirupam. After the split in shiv sena, Gajan Kirtikar went with Eknath Shinde. His son Amol Kirtikar is with uddhav Thackeray. uddhav thackeray has made him the candidate from this seat this time. Earlier, from 1999 to 2009, congress had held the mumbai North West seat.
